Rules and examples from this lesson

Future Continuous: what will be under way

When you present a scenario, the listener wants a picture of a future moment. Future Continuous paints that picture: it shows people and projects in the middle of their activity.

subject + will be + verb-ing

Two years from now, our drivers will be using electric vans.
At the peak of the season, we will be handling a thousand orders a day.
Next spring, students will be taking their exams on tablets.

Future Perfect: what will already be done

A scenario also needs results. Future Perfect stands at a future point and reports what has been achieved before it, in the same way as Present Perfect reports what has been achieved before now.

subject + will have + past participle

By next winter, the council will have opened the new tram line.
By then, our main competitor will have launched a similar product.
The first students will have graduated before the new campus opens.
