Although / even though + clause: an unexpected contrast

Use although to admit one fact and then say something that is surprising next to it. Even though means the same but is stronger; though is the informal version. The although-clause can come first (followed by a comma) or second.

Although / Even though + subject + verb, main clause

Although the website looks professional, it never names its sources.
Even though thousands of people shared the video, it turned out to be fake.
The editor published the story, although she had doubts about it.

While / whereas: comparing two facts

While and whereas compare two things that are both true and simply different: two sources, two headlines, two opinions. Nothing is unexpected here, and that is the difference from although. Whereas is the more formal of the two.

fact A, while / whereas + fact B | While / Whereas + fact A, fact B

The local paper covers the story in detail, whereas national media barely mention it.
Whereas the first study followed adults, the second looked only at teenagers.
Some readers trust the blog completely, while others think it is biased.
