Three mothers think about this.
Place the tip of your tongue lightly against your upper front teeth, or just between your teeth. Let air pass continuously. Avoid closing the airflow as you would for /t/ or /d/.
For /θ/ in “think”, keep your voice off. For /ð/ in “this”, use the same mouth position with your voice on. Rest a finger gently on your throat: /ð/ should produce vibration. Whispering will hide this difference.
Say each pair slowly, keeping the vowel the same. Notice whether your tongue stays near the teeth for TH or moves behind them for /t/ and /d/. For /s/, the air passes through a narrow groove rather than over the tongue at the teeth.
Read “Three mothers think about this.” Use /θ/ at the start of “three” and “think”, and /ð/ in “mothers” and “this”. Record yourself, compare with a dictionary recording, then repeat one difficult word in a new sentence.
