How Speak with Sunny works

How a session works

1. 1

   Choose a topic

   Pick a topic or everyday situation, or tap Start to begin with a suggested one.

2. 2

   Sunny asks a question

   Read it on screen or tap Listen to hear it. Turn on "Autoplay Sunny's question" if you always want to hear it.

3. 3

   Tap the microphone and answer

   Speak in full sentences. The red microphone means Sunny is recording. Tap Stop when you finish, or just pause — Sunny sends your answer automatically.

4. 4

   Read your feedback

   You see your answer, the corrected version and short tips. Tap Listen to hear the correct English.

5. 5

   Continue

   Answer again to practise the correction, or go to the next question. Tap Finish at the top any time to see your session summary.

What Sunny checks in your answer

• Grammar

  Sunny shows your answer next to a corrected answer and marks what changed. Tap "Why?" for a short grammar tip. If your sentence is already correct, Sunny tells you.

• More natural English

  Even a correct sentence can sound unnatural. Sunny suggests how a native speaker would say it.

• Pronunciation

  Words that were hard to understand are listed. Listen to each one at normal or slow speed and try again.

• Fluency

  Tips about pauses, very short answers and how to add detail.

• "I may not have heard this clearly"

  If the audio was unclear, Sunny tells you instead of guessing. Try again closer to the microphone or in a quieter place.

What Sunny suggests next

• Say it correctly

  Repeat the corrected sentence out loud — the microphone starts straight away.

• Answer again

  Give the same answer again using what you learned.

• Words to practise

  Mispronounced or difficult words are saved so you can practise them later.

• Session summary

  At the end you get your main mistakes, the corrected sentences and the words to review. Signed-in learners keep all sessions in History.

Two ways to practise

Choose the mode in Settings.

• Learn & Improve

  Best for accuracy

  Full corrections after every answer: corrected sentence, grammar tip, pronunciation and "Say it correctly".

• Conversation Practice

  Best for fluency

  Talk naturally with fewer interruptions. You get a quick model sentence when needed, and full grammar and pronunciation feedback at the end of the session.

Settings explained

Open Settings (the gear icon) during a session. Changes save automatically; "Restore recommended settings" puts everything back.

• Autoplay Sunny's question

  Default: off

  Sunny reads every new question aloud. Off means you tap Listen when you want to hear it.

• Read corrected model sentence

  On in Learn & Improve

  Sunny plays the better sentence aloud after your feedback. Only used when Sunny suggests a better sentence.

• Voice explanations

  Default: off

  Sunny also reads the grammar tip aloud, not only on screen.

• Go to next question automatically

  Default: off

  After the feedback, Sunny waits a moment and moves on by itself. Available in Learn & Improve.

• Show question translation

  Armenian & Russian

  Shows a translation under each question, for when you don't understand it yet.

• Send my answer after I pause

  Default: on

  When you stop talking, Sunny sends your answer — you don't need to tap Stop. After about 3 seconds of silence you see a short countdown, so you can keep talking.

• Pause before sending

  Default: 4 seconds

  How long Sunny waits after you stop talking: 2, 4, 6 or 8 seconds. Choose a longer pause if you need time to think.

• Recording limit

  Default: 60 seconds

  The longest one answer can be: 30 or 60 seconds.

• Auto-start microphone

  Recommended: off

  The microphone starts by itself after Sunny's question. Most learners prefer to tap the microphone when they are ready.

Free answers and credits

• Try without an account

  Guests get 5 credits for 1 speaking answer (5 credits each). No card needed.

• Create a free account

  Get 4 more free answers and keep your history and progress. Your guest session is saved to your account when you sign in.

• 5 credits per answer

  Each successful answer costs 5 credits — only 2 with Sunny Plus. If something fails on our side, the answer is free.

• Sunny Plus and credit packs

  Sunny Plus adds 1,000 credits every month (500 answers) or, on the yearly plan, 1,200 every month (600 answers; 14,400 a year). Credit packs are one-time purchases and never expire. See Pricing for details.

Tips for better feedback

• Allow the microphone

  When the browser asks, tap Allow. If you blocked it, open your browser's site settings and allow the microphone for this site.

• Use a quiet place

  Background noise and music make your answer harder to understand.

• Answer in full sentences

  Two or three sentences give Sunny more to correct than one word.

• Use your normal browser

  Chrome and Safari work best. Some in-app browsers (inside Facebook or Instagram) block the microphone — open the page in your browser instead.
